Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really need an AV receiver, or is a soundbar enough?

If you want true separation between your left, right, and surround channels, you need an AV receiver and dedicated speakers. Soundbars bounce audio off your walls to fake surround sound, which fails completely in rooms with vaulted ceilings or open floor plans.

What does 8-ohm or 4-ohm speaker impedance mean for my receiver?

Impedance is how much resistance the speaker gives your amplifier. A 4-ohm speaker demands twice as much current as an 8-ohm speaker. If you plug a 4-ohm tower speaker into a cheap entry-level receiver, the amplifier will overheat and shut down during loud scenes.

Why does my TV screen go black for a second when I switch inputs?

That is an HDMI handshake issue, usually caused by HDCP copyright protection syncing between your media hub, receiver, and TV. Upgrading to certified Ultra High Speed 48Gbps HDMI cables fixes this problem 90 percent of the time.

Is Dolby Atmos worth the extra money for a living room?
